About Ryan, Lindsey, Cooper, and Olivia
Team Ryan website was created to inform y'all about a benefit that is being organized to help Ryan, Lindsey, Cooper, and Olivia with medical expenses from his hospital stay since September 2012. The proceeds will also go to help this precious family assist Ryan in his rehab process and in helping him to have his vision restored. "Rally for Ryan" Benefit Weekend will be held May 17th and 18th. The weekend will consist of a silent and live auction on Friday, May 17, and a 1 mile walk/run, a golf tournament, and a tennis tournament on May 18. See the appropriate tab for further details in regards to each event. Thanks in advance for your support!
THEIR STORY:
Before September 17, 2012, Ryan, Lindsey, and Cooper Roberson were preparing for the arrival of the fourth member of their family, Olivia Roberson. They were all excited to meet this sweet girl. She was scheduled to arrive on Friday, September 21, 2012. Prior to the 21st, Ryan began having headaches and became ill; we were all praying that he would be well in time to see Olivia be born. Lindsey's obstetrician was willing to let her wait until Monday, September 24 to deliver Olivia. The day before her new delivery date it was apparent that Ryan was going to miss the delivery of Olivia, because he was still running fever and not able to be discharged from the hospital. As Olivia was being born, Ryan became more ill. His sodium level had dropped significantly, which caused him to become very confused. The doctors placed him in the Intensive Care Unit for closer monitoring. During the 6 weeks that Ryan was in the ICU, God and Ryan went through a lot of obstacles. He was placed on a ventilator and remained ventilator dependent for almost 2 months; we were told at one point that he may never get off the machine, but God and Ryan showed them with faith in God and prayer that he could breathe on his own. Also, his heart stopped on September 27, and he went into a coma for approximately 6 weeks. He woke up on the weekend of November 9th, and since then, he has made huge strides in his recovery process.
During the month of December, Ryan went to Methodist for inpatient rehab, but he was only able to stay 3 weeks. He wasn't progressing as quick as the doctors were wanting, so we all headed home on January 4, 2013. Since being back in Indianola, Ryan has continued to work hard in therapy so that he can begin walking again. Currently, Ryan's long and short term memory are intact, he carries on a conversation as if nothing ever happened, he is able to eat whatever he wants, and he can move his arms in all directions. He knows when his legs are moving, but he is not able to move his legs on command yet nor can he walk. Also, he is only able to see shadows and silhouettes. We are all constantly praying and waiting patiently for the Lord to provide a full recovery miracle and restore Ryan to pre-hospitilization status.
Ryan, Lindsey, Cooper, and Olivia are doing great. They are adjusting to this new chapter in their life, and continue to follow through doors as the Lord opens them. Cooper is involved in Mother's Day Out, Olivia stays at home with Lindsey, Ryan goes to work some days and other days he'll stay in, and Lindsey works hard to support her family and do for them. They have been truly blessed with a great support system from their family and their sitter, Mrs. Ann.
Please continue to pray for their sweet family. Pray for the Lord to give them daily strength and to help them keep their focus on the Lord through everything they encounter. Also, pray for the Lord to continue to work on healing Ryan from head to toe.
